Bill Akin, K9YDO, passed along info of Steve Henke, W9SH, originally from
the Fishers area passing away. His obituary is available at
https://www.shirleybrothers.com/obituaries/Steven-Henke/#!/Obituary.
Following are some details on Steve, for those of you that may have known
him:
Steve moved back "home" to the Fishers area (from Georgia, where he had
lived) around November 2018. He was suffering from Parkinson's disease and
dementia and thus wanted to be close to the rest of his family for care. He
had a successful operation for an aortic aneurysm in the spring of 2019. The
surgery, however, caused a minor stroke which further amplified the effects
of the Parkinson's disease and dementia.
On Tuesday (1/7) he suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm resulting in a fall
down stairs that caused further traumatic brain and other injuries. He
passed comfortably and without pain at the hospital about 12 hours later
[the early morning hours of Wednesday (1/8)] at the age of 66 with his wife
and family by his side.
Feel free to share this information with the Indy radio community if you'd
like. That was one concern of his kids: "How do we let the amateur community
know of his death?" You sharing the above is a good start. ;)
73,
Ken, KJ9B
