Everyone, stay well and safe.
My dog Max and I are doing fine. My Niece, an RN, is on the front lines
providing medical care in the LA area. Please pray for her and the
countless others who risk their health, for our welfare
Below are some of my thoughts at this time.
Responding to Uncertainty and Chaos - Like COVID-19
* Embrace your Faith - Spiritual and community. Retain solid
Foundation.
* Be sensible, kind and act responsibly. Don't panic and don't hoard.
* Seek and act on reliable information. Filter out deception and
nonsense.
* As instructed, protect - for instance against catching and spreading
Virus with social distancing, prudent quarantine & precautions. Be
vigilant.
* Teaching Moment - Handle respectfully and realistically. Set the
example and inspire. Others are watching and will likely follow. Keep
Perspective.
* Take full Responsibility for your Safety & actions. Control your
Mindset.
* Do your part and support yourself and others in socially responsible
ways.
* Prioritize what is important. Think long-term. Recovery always
comes.
* Accept that challenges make us stronger, as we realize our resilience
and creativity.
* Pray!! Consider your Blessings and be grateful for both large and
small.
* Review family emergency plans - Medical, Fire, Weather, Food, Water,
Finance (Budget, emergency funds, wise choices), neighborhood support
* Improve and consistently maintain Health - Physical, Mental,
Spiritual
* Gladly keep active - Motivated, Walking, Exercise - Aerobic &
Strength
* Activities - family, music, read, Learn, write, rejuvenate/renew,
relax
* Observe Golden Rule - Be considerate, practice Humanity and Kindness
* Do the Right Thing - Fundamentally, we know what is moral and needed
* Community support - Our existence is dependent on Personal
Responsibility & support of myriad others. We each have a Crucial Role.
* Creativity - Best use of time and resources, in keeping with
practical needs, passions and goals. Necessity is the mother of invention -
Plato
* Silver Lining - What constructive lessons or messages are presented?
What is understood and what action will be taken for a better future?

Dear Indianapolis Radio Club Members,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am sending out this message to the
membership in response to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 situation.
After you read the rest of this message, if you would like to make a public
reply to this email and let everyone know how you are doing that's great.
Otherwise, please send a private response to me (Jeff Hammer, N9NIC, at
jghammer1 at comcast.net <mailto:jghammer1 at comcast.net> ). If you don't want
anyone to contact you please let us know. Those we don't hear from will get
called by one of the Board members.
--------
We want to make sure that all of you are doing ok. We recognize that the
government, school and private business response to the Coronavirus is going
to affect everyone differently. We want to share some advice (which we hope
you have already heard).
There are a lot of sources of information (not all good). To
ensure you are getting trustworthy information, make this your reference

Stay in your home/yard. But don't forget to get fresh air and exercise as
that will be important to staying healthy too. Going for a walk, run, or
hike, is a great idea as long as you remember not to get too close to other
people. For now, Indiana State Parks and other DNR properties are committed
to staying open (including campgrounds).
Shop responsibly - hoarding wastes food and other goods preventing others
who need them from having enough.
Check on family and friends regularly. Not only is this good for those that
may become ill, but it will help with the isolation that some are already
starting to feel.
And finally, Stay Healthy and get active on the air as much as you can.
Local repeaters are great and so is simplex on 146.52 Mhz and 446.00 MHz,
just to name a few.
We look forward to hearing from all of you.
73,
Jeff Hammer, N9NIC
