The next Indianapolis Radio Club Parks on the Air (POTA) operating event will be Saturday, January 17 at Fort Harrison State Park.
We plan to be on the air by noon with 2 HF stations. We will be set up at our normal spot, in front of the Visitor Center.
If you have heard of the POTA program, but have not been able to take part, this is your chance!
Even if you’re not licensed for HF, there will be control operators on site to help get you on the air.
Both stations will have 2 positions, one for the operator and one for a logger, in case you need help logging.
As usual, we will be using the club’s callsign of W9JP, but if you’re registered with the POTA system, you will get credit for the QSOs you make.
So, if you’re new to HF or POTA, or even if you’re an experienced operator, stop by on January 17.
We’ll try to make sure the new operators get a chance to get on the air, but with 2 radios, anyone that wants to get on should be able to.

Don't worry if it's cold because we will be using the enclosed tent that the Brocks,
KD9RUD and KD9RUE donated to the club with a propane heater available, as well.
Of course, with Indiana weather, it might be "shirt-sleeve weather" who knows?

This event is open to everyone; YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE IRC to attend.
As usual, we will have coffee, donuts, and water available for refreshments.
Even if you don’t want to operate, just stop on by to chat with everyon

January 24 – 25, 2026 Winter Field Day

The Indianapolis Radio Club will join SATERN and ARES at the
Salvation Army EDS Training Facility to participate in Winter Field Day activities.
For those not familiar, Winter Field Day was started in 2007, and is today run by the Winter
Field Day Association.
It is similar to the traditional Summer Field Day, just held in the winter time.
For those of us that don’t really relish the idea of communing with Frozen
Mother Nature, we will be operating from the warmth of the EDS building
(the same place our meetings are held). We plan on being on the air around 2:00 pm.
So, come and join us for some radio activity, fellowship, and Bert Williams’ famous chili.
